Kokeshi up close

Here are some better photos of my doll. Kokeshi are traditionally painted with a few spare lines for the face, and floral patterns on the body. I really love the way the Japanese kokeshi look, but I wanted to do something that would reflect some of my heritage too, so I gave mine a hispanic flair.

  1. Kristin!! That cat and the details, I'm seriously in-love and mesmerized, amazing work!

  2. Your doll is wonderful! How exciting to transform your drawings into a 3D form. Congrats, Kristin.

  3. Absolutely gorgeous! You could sell these for a lot. And I am a little embarrassed to admit that I had no idea you were partially Hispanic!

  4. Oh my goodness! This is just waaay too AWESOME!
I love kokeshi dolls and wish this was part of my collection (^•^)
What's so unique is that Hispanic flair you added, her dress is so pretty and makes her stand out! the lace detail on her head is beautiful!
And that expression on the cat's face makes me chuckle, it's so darn cute!
What a GREAT job you did! xo
